April 23rd thru 26th District Task Forces 4, 5 & 6 will be participating in a Full Scale Exercise at Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex. This exercise will test TF4's ability to notify, activate, mobilize, convoy and demobilize the entire task force. Additionally, this exercise will allow our Incident Management Assistance Team to arrive on an unstabilized scene and work the first 12-24 hours of the incident supporting on scene Incident Command.

Well, we did it! 54 members of Task Force 4 from all over the district descended upon Muscatatuck Urban Training Center Monday, May 16th thru Friday, May 20th for the National Level Exercise “Shaking Bedrock”. Overall, our activation, mobilization, convoying and demobilization went very well, with many lessons learned. Most importantly, everyone had a safe week and came back home! For those who do not know, District 4 was not even suppose to “play” in this exercise. District 1, 2 nor 3 could belly up a Fire Suppression Element to come to this exercise and that is when IDHS approached us about participating. 5 months prior to the exercise… District 4 stood up to the challenge. And we did it.

New Task Force 4 Commander

At the DPC Meeting on June 23, 2011 Jeff Houston, EMS Coordinator for Tippecanoe County Emergency Ambulance Service, was unanimously approved to take the reigns as Commander of Task Force 4. Previously, Jeff served in the role of Deputy Commander under Richard Doyle. As you may know, Jeff led Task Force 4 through our first deployment to the National Level Exercise 2011 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in May. IDHS District 4 is fortunate to have someone of Jeff's caliber leading this initiative and the outstanding persons serving on the task force.
